Exchange Visits
For 25 years we have provided opportunities for everyone in the Sherborne area to join in educational, cultural, historical, sporting, tourist, environmental, volunteering and social projects, events and exchanges with our partner towns across Europe.
We have organised many projects in Sherborne and regularly taken part in youth events abroad.
A special Youth Travel Fund was established to subsidize travel costs of our youth participants. Our activities, however, are by no means limited to the younger members of the community; they are open to anyone who is interested.
Many of these exchanges come about through an individual’s own interests, but some are part of formal EU funded projects. Often they are self-funded but with free accommodation. Every year there are exchanges to Poland and to the Douzelage General Meeting, plus various walking group exchanges.
- Would you like to go and play Short Mat bowls in Denmark, study Roman Heritage across Europe, meet and learn about people of common interests to yourself such as firemen, health professionals, volunteer organisations?
- Do you want to have work experience in Italy, improve your German or be willing to host visitors from Ireland, Poland, France or The Netherlands?
Let us know your interests and an exchange might be possible.
